First The Mandalorian Image And Directors Revealed

The very first The Mandalorian image and directors have been revealed by Disney. The Jon Favreau Star Wars TV show was first announced earlier this year, with more details being revealed through Instagram recently. It will be exclusively airing on Disney’s Netflix competitor. There is no word when the series will premiere.

The first image for Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian has been revealed via the official Star Wars website. It depicts the “lone gunfighter” from Favreau’s Instagram post. The figure is wearing the traditional armor of the Mandalorian race, which comes as no surprise. It departs from other televisual and filmic depictions of the race, however, as it uses more muted colors in its scheme. The “lone gunfighter” is also shown in the image to be walking through an environment that suspiciously resembles Tatooine. You can see the image below.

Along with this image, Disney has also revealed some of the directors for the series. The first episode will be directed by Dave Filoni, who is most well known for his work on Avatar: The Last Airbender and Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated programs. Favreau will not be stepping behind the camera but will be instead writing and executive producing. Other directors listed include “Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates), and Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok). Included in the producer roles as well are Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. Disney has also confirmed that the show has begun production.

The Mandalorian will be set after the events of Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi and before Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It will follow the titular Mandalorian as they travel across the outer reaches of the galaxy “far from the authority of the New Republic.” It will be one of the many Star Wars television shows that Disney will be developing.
