Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2 is Coming and Here’s Who’s in the Cast

Ever since binging last year’s Squid Game, fans of Netflix’s surprise hit have been wondering when season 2 would arrive and what cast members would return. Given that the series went on to be the streamer’s most popular show ever, it was inevitable the Korean drama would return. Still, its future was uncertain until this week, when Squid Game season 2 was officially announced.

Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2 Officially Announced

Just two days before revealing reality series Squid Game: The Challenge, an official confirmation of season 2 —  from Squid Game’s director, writer, and executive producer, Hwang Dong-hyuk —  appeared on Netflix’s official site. The creative force behind the drama first thanked fans for supporting the show, then made the announcement they’ve all been waiting for: “Season 2 is coming.”

Who’s in Squid Game Season 2 Cast?

On top of the official reveal of a second season, Dong-hyuk shared details on which characters would be returning. The brief, albeit tantalizing, post includes the lines “And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns.” The former, of course, refers to fan-favorite protagonist Seong Gi-hun AKA Number456 (played by actor Lee Jung-jae), while the latter is the menacing, masked leader of the life-or-death competition. The Front Man’s identity goes much deeper than that, tying directly to one of the series’ major twists, but we’ll keep this post spoiler-free.

The director also hints at the return of “The man in the suit with ddakji.” In addition to these familiar faces, fans will apparently get to meet Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su. Dong-hyuk concludes his message with an ominous invitation: “Join us once more for a whole new round.” Sadly, the post did not include details on timing, so while it’s great to have a confirmation of season 2, fans will have to continue waiting for another cryptic message on its release date.
