The Like a Dragon Gaiden release date may have been revealed thanks to a recent post on a PlayStation Store tracking website.
When does Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name come out?
According to a recent listing on the PlayStation Store price tracking website PSDeals (via Gematsu), the Like a Dragon Gaiden release date is set for November 9, 2023, where the game will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Alongside the release date, a brief synopsis for the game also appeared, teasing a story that sees Yakuza mainstay Kazuma Kiryu thrust into conflict from someone trying to bring him out of hiding after faking his death.
“Once a legendary yakuza, Kazuma Kiryu faked his own death and abandoned his name for the sake of protecting his family. Now, he is thrust into conflict by a mysterious figure attempting to drive him out of hiding,” reads the game’s synopsis. “Under the codename ‘Joryu,’ Kiryu embarks on a gripping action narrative with bone-shattering combat in vibrant locations filled with exciting characters and activities.
The game’s store page also teases the ability to fight in two different fighting styles, the “Yakuza” and “Agent” styles, each with their own unique moves.
The Yakuza style features “wildly aggressive moves” utilized by Kiryu’s strength, while the Agent style is all about “absolute speed and precision,” while also using “an array of high-tech gadgets like electrified bind wires to stun enemies then send them flying.”
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is a spin-off of the Like a Dragon (formerly known as Yakuza) series. The game will bridge the gap between Yakuza 6, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and the highly anticipated Like a Dragon 8, which is set to release sometime in 2024.
