Total War: Pharaoh early access map

Total War: Pharaoh’s early access weekend begins at 1 PM British Summer Time on September 29. It concludes at 1 PM BST on October 2. This works out to 5 AM on the US West Coast, 8 AM on the East Coast, and 9 AM Brasília time. German and South African fans will have to wait until 2 PM, while early access starts at 3 PM Cairo time. However, Fans in New Dehli, Beijing, and Sydney must wait until 5:30 PM, 8 PM, and 10 PM. Due to Australian Daylight Savings Time, Pharaoh’s early access weekend ends at 11 PM on October 2 in that country.

Today also saw the release of Total War: Pharaoh’s latest video developer diary. The short video offered a brief mechanical overview, including the Pillars of Civilization, Collapse, Sea People, and Hittite and Egyptian Courts. CA covered much of it in other previews, but the studio revealed new information on the Sea People. The first Sea People will land early in the game, coinciding with the first Civil War in Egypt. These early waves will be relativity weak but grow larger and more powerful as civilization enters the Crisis and Collapse phases. However, players can slow or even reverse the decline by restoring certain major cities considered the Pillars of Civilization.

Pharaoh has been controversial in the Total War community, mainly regarding its price. There is also lingering discontent over Warhammer III’s Shadows of Change DLC and the lack of flagship historical titles. Creative Assembly’s upcoming extraction shooter Hyenas also hasn’t seen the most positive of receptions. It may be that CA hopes Total War: Pharaoh will fulfill fans’ desires for more historical strategy games. However, the community response has not been promising.
