Forza Motorsport Crashing PC

Forza Motorsport Crashing on PC: Crash on Launch and When Starting Race Fix

You’re not alone if you’re experiencing random crashing while playing Forza Motorsport on PC. While the game’s stability on Xbox is reportedly great, that’s not the case on Windows, where players face many problems. Complicating the issue is that it seems to be completely hardware-dependent. Some users with high-end PCs are barely able to launch the game, while others with less powerful hardware can play just fine.

Is there a fix for Forza Motorsport crashing on PC?

There are a few temporary fixes for Forza Motorsport crashing on PC, but nothing definitive. The issue seems to primarily affect those using Nvidia GPUs, which seems to indicate that the issue might be driver-based. If this is the case, the only permanent fix will be an updated driver.

More Guides

However, there are a few things you can do to help alleviate crashes:

  • Set all graphics options to auto
  • Turn off DLSS and Raytracing
  • Disable any overlays
  • Restart your PC
  • Wait for a new driver

Set all graphics options to auto

Forza Motorsport’s graphics options are a bit odd on PC. By default, they’re set to auto, but most players will tweak them as needed. I found that unless I left everything on auto that the game would crash without fail whenever I tried to start a race. After setting everything back, I was able to load a few races before crashing again.

Turn off DLSS and Raytracing

Both DLSS and Raytracing are Nvidia-specific features that could cause issues. In particular, the game’s DLSS implementation seems to be broken.

Disable any overlays

Software overlays like Xbox Game Bar and Nvidia Experience can cause issues when running some games. That’s likely not what’s causing the problem here, but it can’t hurt to cover your bases.

Restart your PC

One of the most helpful fixes is also one of the simplest. Sometimes, a restart is all you need to help with system stability.

Wait for a new driver

You’ll likely have to wait for Nvidia to release a new driver to alleviate Forza Motorsports crashing issues entirely.
