MW3 TTK Too High Takes too Long to Kill

MW3 TTK Too High: Does it Take Too Long to Kill in Modern Warfare 3?

Players have been critical of MW3 TTK being too high since the beta. They argue that instead of rewarding precision, it takes so many bullets to kill someone that it just comes down to who started firing first. But is the time to kill in MW3 really any slower than past entries in the series? We’ll take a look at TTK in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One below.

Is Modern Warfare 3 Time to Kill too high?

MW3 TTK is significantly higher than the two previous Modern Warfare games. The average TTK for MW 2019 and MW2 was on the fast side, with only 2ms of variance between them. For reasons unknown, Sledgehammer decided to increase TTK for MW3 by almost 0.15 of a second.

Below, you can see a comparison of the average TTK for each Call of Duty since the original Modern Warfare (via TheHybred/Reddit):

So, we can see that this year’s Modern Warfare 3 ranks as the second-slowest TTK in the series. However, many players praised Black Ops Cold War’s TTK, and it’s just above MW3 on our list. So, what’s going on?

Unfortunately, raw TTK data doesn’t tell the whole story. Things like server stability, weapon balance and feel, and movement all come into play as well. It’s likely that TTK is just one of the issues leading to players’ complaints. Whether it’s too slow is a subjective matter, but many agree it’s part of a larger problem with MW3’s gameplay.
