Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 DLC Release Date Announced

Nintendo detailed the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 5 DLC during the recent Nintendo Direct. However, the reveals only came with a vague summer release date. The company has now gotten more specific, revealing that the expansion will make its way to the popular racer on July 12.

This more precise release date came in the new trailer for the DLC, which also more clearly detailed what will be in Wave 5. Wave 5 will include eight courses: Wii Koopa Cape from Mario Kart Wii, Tour Los Angeles Laps from Mario Kart Tour, Wii Moonview Highway, Squeaky Clean Sprint (a new track), Tour Athens Dash from Mario Kart Tour, GCN Daisy Cruiser from Mario Kart Double Dash, GBA Sunset Wilds from Mario Kart Super Circuit, and Tour Vancouver Velocity from Mario Kart Tour.

Birdo, Peter Piranha, Wiggler, and Kamek are the four new characters, as was previously announced. However, their classes have now been revealed: Kamek and Birdo are in the Medium class, while Petey and Wiggler are in the Heavy class.

There’s only one more batch of DLC to go for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is slated for sometime before the end of 2023. Unless more DLC is announced, this will mark the end of the kart racer that began on the Wii U in 2014.
